Cells ( Animal & Plant)

These are the 3 basic parts of an animal cell:

They are namly: nucleus, cytoplasm and cell membrane.
but this post will not only be on the functions of cells but on also on some FUN FACTS!

Do you know??

•There are anywhere from 75 to 100 trillion cells in the body.
•There are more bacterial cells in the body than human cells
•Cells commit suicide.
The longest cells in the human body are the motor neurons. They can be up to 4.5 feet (1.37 meters) long and run from the lower spinal cord to the big toe
•The human brain cell can hold 5 times as much information as the Encyclopedia Britannica. Or any other encyclopedia for that matter. Scientists have yet to settle on a definitive amount, but the storage capacity of the brain in electronic terms is thought to be between 3 or even 1,000 terabytes. The National Archives of Britain, containing over 900 years of history, only takes up 70 terabytes, making your brain’s memory power very impressive.

Functions of cell parts (Thing learnt in class and self-study)
I will first start with the RER and SER (ER stands for endoplasmic reticulum)
There are two types of ER the rough ER (4) and the smooth ER.
The surface of rough ER is ribosomes, which is a protein-manufacturing factory and it
gives the surface a rough feeling.(hence its name)The ribosomes are not a stable part of the organelle's structure as the ribosomes are bound and released off the membrane.
The smooth ER (3)synthesizes proteins, carbohydrates and steroids. Sex cells are steroids.
The Golgi Apparatus (8) is a important part of the cell too.The primary function of the Golgi apparatus is to process and package such as proteins after their synthesis and before they make their way to their destination; it is particularly important in the processing of proteins for secretion.

Animal cells are the cells found in animals. You are made up of trillions of animal cells.
